Why Woodland of Kingston

When you buy timber, you’re investing in windows that don’t just show your home off to its best. These are windows that last decades, are sustainable and will maximise the light and warmth of your home. When you’re making that sort of investment, we think it’s good to know who you’re working with.

Woodland is a Kingston based, family-run business. You can see our windows throughout the borough. You can read testimonials from your neighbours. You can visit our factory and see our craftsmanship and commitment to quality. We’ve been in Kingston since 1978. John initially started Woodland because – as an architect and product designer – he couldn’t find a factory with the skill to make the products he was he was designing. He wanted a company with the craftsmanship turn his designs into reality. Forty years on and today Woodland is run by John’s son Chris. And that craftsmanship is still at the heart of the business.

When we say that we’re local and family run, what does that mean for you, our customer?

We make everything in our factory in Kingston.

The quality of our products is entirely our responsibility. It’s totally within our control. We don’t import anything from abroad. If there’s a problem, we fix it. But of course, our business thrives because we do a first-rate job the first time.

We’re trusted and recommended.

We’ve crafted windows for hundreds of homes in the area. You don’t get to be a local business for over forty years if people don’t love what you do – 75% of our business comes from referral and recommendation.

This is a family business built on our passion for craftsmanship.

We’re not a huge operation. When we make your windows we know they’re for you, for your home. It’s personal. We care about every customer, every window and every home. That’s part of being local.

We offer quality at a fair price.

We don’t run a commission-based sales team. We price fairly for the quality of our windows and nothing else. We might not be the cheapest quote you get, but compare the quality of our timber and craftsmanship and you won’t get better value.

We’re invested in our community.

Woodland employs a highly skilled team of craftsmen who share our belief that quality is at the heart of everything we do. And we invest in the future with a program for apprentices and trainees to ensure the unique skills required to work to our high standards are continually being developed and passed on.

You can come and see our craftsmen at work.

Visit our factory and see for yourself exactly what you’re getting. Let us talk you through why we work with beautiful, durable Accoya wood – we can even show you the piece of Accoya that’s been submerged in a pot of water since 2015. It hasn’t warped. It hasn’t rotted. It’s still a beautiful piece of timber.

We’ve invested in state-of-the-art technology.

But we believe there’s no substitute for the human eye. In the Machine Room we’ve invested in our technology so we can work with greater precision than ever before and with less waste. At the Joinery benches our joiners assemble the product and send it to the Finishing Shop where every window is spray finished with ‘Teknos’ high quality micro porous water-based paint. Then we fit hardware and glazing in-house.

Our guarantees and Insurance

Woodland is a member of FENSA so you can be confident we meet all current building regulations and thermal performance. We offer an Insurance Backed Guarantee so all applicable installations and deposits are fully insured in the unlikely event that Woodland ceases to trade. All our products are guaranteed for 10 years as standard.

We control the whole process from the first piece of wood to fitting the glass.

We don’t just make the frames in Kingston, we create and install the glass in-house. Woodland Glass is a small factory in its own right, manufacturing all our double-glazed units. Our team of glass specialists handle the glass from beginning to end giving us complete control over the quality of your windows and minimising the risk of double-glazing unit failure.
